You are pure potential
I thought this would be a great time to go over Deepak Chopra’s “Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.” With this week comes the close of summer, the end of August, the start of a fall and a great time to ring in some new practices with the new season. I love fall. Fall and winter are my absolute favorite times of the year, so I’m excited.
Before we go into the first law, here’s a little context from the introductions of Mr. Chopra’s book:
“Success is the ability to fulfill our desires with effortless ease. . . Success in life can be defined as the continued expansion of happiness and the progressive realization of worthy goals. . . In spiritual terms, success is measured by how efficiently, how effortlessly, we co-create with the universe. . . In every seed lies the promise of a forest. Unseen energy flows into material manifestation. . . Our most cherished desires are pure consciousness seeking expression from the unmanifest to the manifest. And if we give our deeper instincts a chance, success in life is not only possible, but inevitable.”
That sets the background for what the seven laws are trying to help us succeed at. They are the success tools for manifesting from the source, for being conscious, for living a full life that is balanced in health, happiness, love and abundance.
The first spiritual law then, is The Law of Pure Potentiality. According to Deepak Chopra, this law means that, “Our essential state is one of pure potentiality.” (p. 17) He explains that we are source, that we are potentiality, and that when we realize this, we are living who we really are. Knowing who you really are means shedding your ego, which he describes as, “our social mask, the role we are playing.” (pg 19)
He introduces some practices to help us work with the Law of Pure Potentiality. These include meditation and silence (a still mind is more receptive to inspiration), practicing “non-judgement” of people, events and situations, and spending time in nature. Nature, he says, is particularly important because it is practicing creation and manifesting without effort in its purest form. Grass doesn’t struggle to grow, it just does. Trees don’t make and effort to change into their autumn colors, it’s just a process that they accept and experience. Mr. Chopra says, “Connecting with nature’s intelligence will give you a sense of unity with all life, and help you get in touch with your inner most being.” (23)
So today lets practice one or all of these principles and tools of The Law of Pure Potentiality. I’ll report back tomorrow on my experiences today.
Make it a great day!
